Gaetano Fusella married Chiara Stella, the youngest daughter of the Marquis Lecaldano. He contributed to increase the good reputation of the music Conservatoire of Naples . Born in 1876, and pupil of Dworzŕk, he graduated in 1894, one year earlier than expected because, as Dworzŕk himself said, “he already knew all the secrets of the violin technique and I had nothing more to teach him”. Between 1895 and 1896 he toured abroad following a very demanding schedule -in three months he played over seventy concerts. At first, with a quartet (named after him) he performed in Alexandria and Cairo (Egypt) and then, playing as a solo violinist, he went as far as Eastern India. Maestro Fusella’s musical activity between 1896 and 1907 was very intense. He performed all around Europe, especially Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Scandinavia where, in ,he even set up a violin school. He came back to Italy in 1906, when, aged thirty, he was offered the chair of violin and viola at the Royal Conservatoire of Naples replacing the famous Dworzŕk. He exchanged the gold coins he had earned during the European tour into Government Bonds and lost everything during the economic crisis of 1910. He composed many musical pieces but did not want to publish them because, as he said, “modern music could not compete with its predecessors”.
